My mom had me pick out three things that were significant to me this year for our 2014 Christmas Letter and it got me all nostalgic. So, I decided to write my own! This is probably one of those things that you do when you get to the “adult” age and since I’m now outside the “late adolescent” stage of life, I can probably start doing adult things.
This year has been one of great change for me. Through all of it, there have been some incredible moments for me as I have been challenged and blessed by the effects of change. Here are some of my highlights:
1. A Full Year at Hope – In mid-November, I have officially been at Hope Missionary Church for a full year and it has definitely been a full year. I have been blessed to find a great team and incredible support from the congregation. Not only that, it seems that the students haven’t rejected me yet, so that’s a positive thing too! As you can imagine, this is a significant part of this year and has had direct impact on the other highlights of the year…
2. Five Years in Ministry – It was the Summer of 2008 that I began this journey with Jesus. Since 2009 He has been using me in vocational ministry and pastoral leadership. I was looking through a number of facebook photos and instagram posts over the years and find myself overwhelmed with the experiences that God has blessed me with over the years. I’m still convinced that I have no clue what I would be doing if I wasn’t doing what I do every day. Nothing else in the world seems like it would be satisfying to me and I’m very thankful for that. It is only by God’s grace that I get to do what I do and He continues to show me how to do it better.
3. Moving to Bluffton, IN – When I began this journey, I was hoping to move to one place and stay there for a very long time. While that wasn’t the way things panned out for me, it seems that I have found a place to call “home” for a while. I will always call Elkhart my “house-home,” but Bluffton continues to become “home” every day. I am so thankful for the relationships that God continues to foster and the peace that I continue to find here.
Looking Forward to 2015 – I can safely say that I am super pumped for 2015. By all expectations, it’s going to be a full year, but a fun year. If it’s anything like this year, it will go by in a blur. A number of trips with students, opportunities to further settle into where God has called me, and some potential opportunities to make Jesus known in new ways.
I wonder how your 2014 went and how you are looking at 2015. What happened in 2014 that was awesome? What are you looking forward to in 2015?
